INST PC Sensitization Training

Staff from the Institute of Nuclear Science & Technology were trained on Performance Contacting on 5th March 2021. A team from the Performance Management Reform Unit, TPMRU, led by Dr Kiringa, conducted the training through google meet. The goal of the training was to help the members of staff understand how evaluators conduct their evaluation and enable the team to understand the team's evidence while undertaking their evaluation. The training covered the following.

Nuclear Science & Technology Staff gives a career talk at School of Physical Science-JKUAT career fair

Wilson Kairu, a staff at the Institute of Nuclear Science, gave a career talk to students from the School of Physical Science in Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology on 15th March 2021. The event was organised by the College of pure and applied sciences(COPAS) with the audience drawn from students that are pursuing chemistry and physics-related courses and expected to enter the job market in the near future.

Relevance of Nuclear Science to Sustainable Socioeconomic and Economic Growth in the South

Investment in research for the development of a strong human resource base is a well-known and appreciated foundation for sustainable development in the North. In Science, the multidiscipline diversity of peaceful applications of nuclear science and technology offers a solution for research capacity building globally. However, it remains unappreciated and a myth to many, including the academia, in Sub-Sahara Africa and by extension in our country.

The  Institute of Nuclear Science will be holding a webinar on "Empowerment of Women to Higher Education through MSc in Nuclear Science and Technology: A Panel Discussion by PhD Scholars in the North" on 13th November 2020. The team of panellists consist of students who have gone through the MSc in Nuclear Science programme and currently pursuing their PhD in the North. 

National Conference on Energy, Air Quality and Health Nexus

The national conference on the nexus of energy, air pollution and health is intended to trigger and drive the dialogue and devise policy, strategic and technical approaches that would promote clean energy solutions and to reduce air pollution in Kenya. Specific objectives of the conference are:
1. To raise awareness and share knowledge, experiences, good practices and lessons learnt on energy-air pollution-health nexus

INST Faculty Development: - Appreciation of Delft University of Technology, Netherlands

Institute of Nuclear Science & Technology (INST) and by extension College of Architecture and Engineering, and University of Nairobi (UoN) is pleased and proud that Ms Lindah K. Kiirinya, a Tutorial Fellow at INST, is a registered PhD student of Delft University of Technology (DUT-Delft), The Netherlands under a special faculty development agreement between DUT-Delft and UoN-INST.  She is a PhD student in the group of Professor Erik Kelder in the Department of Radiation Science and Technology.
