International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Technical Cooperation (TC) Expert mission

The Institute of Nuclear Science & Technology (INST) hosted an International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Technical Cooperation (TC) Expert mission from 10-14th June 2019 through TC Project KEN1006. The purpose of the mission was to assist the country to build and develop an NDT personnel certification system using Morocco experience. The IAEA expert, Mr Rachad Alami, was involved in the development of a system of certification in Centre national de l'énergie, des sciences et des techniques nucléaires (CNESTEN), Morocco. He has also been to several mission in other African countries that are interested in developing local training, qualification, examination and certifications schemes.

The KEN1006 TC project seeks to exploit the existing Government development policies and strategies for 2013-2018 (CPF 2017-2022; Vision 2030; Human Resource Development Policy, 2015; National Industrialization Policy; Master Plan for Kenya’s Industrial Development) with the aim of upgrading the existing non-destructive testing (NDT) facilities as well as developing programmes for skills development, for training and certification in NDT.
