Preparation for a Study Tour: Quality Assurance for Off-grid Solar Products

The UoN-LL and Lighting Global Quality Assurance team finalized their preparations to host a study tour on  Quality Assurance for Off-grid Solar Products scheduled for 21st February 2019 from 8:30-11:30 am. World Bank Task Team Leaders (TTLs) and representatives from national ministries of energy who are working on off-grid energy access programs are expected to attend. The tour will give attendees an opportunity to visit Africa’s first and only laboratory that is ISO 17025 accredited to test pico-solar products according to international standards (IEC TS 62257-9-5). Participants will learn about the key elements of an effective and sustainable quality assurance framework, including international harmonization and implementation of standards. They will also have hands-on experiences with testing and evaluation of off-grid solar products. The study tour is intended to give TTLs and their partners' background knowledge and appreciation for the importance of quality assurance that will strengthen their approach to improving off-grid energy access.
