Implementation Report for RAF1008: Supporting Radiation Technologies in Industrial Applications and Preventive Maintenance of Nuclear and Medical Equipment (AFRA)

Wilson Macharia Kairu, a staff at the University of Nairobi, made presentation on RAF1008 during the meeting for the AFRA Project Counterpart in National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation headquarters held between 24th and 26th October 2018. The project is being hosted at the Institute of Nuclear Science & Technology with a focus on supporting sustainable industrialization and upgrading capabilities in industrial sectors using radiation technologies and associated techniques. The project aims at carrying out an operational programme to contribute to tackle regional deficiencies on industrial processes troubleshooting and optimization. The project covers four thematic elements:

  1. Radiotracers
  2. Non-destructive testing
  3. Nuclear instrumentation – scientific
  4. Nuclear Instrumentation - medical

The main stakeholders to the project include: the Kenya Bureau of Standard, the Institute of Nuclear Science & Technology, Kenyatta National Hospital and Non-Destructive Testing Society
