The University of Nairobi through the Institute of Nuclear Science Participated in a meeting organized by the IAEA National Liaison Office based in the Nuclear Electricity Board (KNEB).  The meeting brought together all the project counterpart responsible for the overall management and direction of a Technical Cooperation projects in a Kenya. The meeting was called to deliberate on the challenges, successes, and way forward to see the successful implementation of various projects being partly funded by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Also in attendance was the IAEA Director of the Division of Africa, Prof. Shaukat Abdulrazak, the Program Management Officer for Kenya Mr. Muhammed Lameen Abdul-Malik and Mr. Mickel Edwerd who is the section head in Africa Section 1. Speaking during the meeting, Prof Shaukat urged all Project Counterparts to  embrace  a new paradigm which is results-oriented and sustainable capacity development by adhering to the notion of business unusual as opposed to business as usual

The Institute of Nairobi is currently hosting the following National Projects:

  1. KEN1004: Establishing an NDT Laboratory at the Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology at the University of Nairobi for Training, Research, and Service Provision in the Field of NDT Applications
  2. KEN1005: Strengthening Existing Resources for Training, Research, and Application of Radiation Technologies in Industry and Environmental Studies
  3. KEN1006: Establishing a System for Education, Training, Qualification, and Certification for Non-Destructive Testing
