Prof. Peter J.T. Verheijen doing the training on Statistical Distributions in Particle Technology: From Basic Concepts to Optimisation

The Institute of Nuclear Science & Technology successfully carried out a mini-course on Statistical Distributions in Particle Technology: From Basic Concepts to Optimisation on 12th and 13th June 2017. The training facilitated by Prof. Peter J.T. Verheijen from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Technical University Delft The Netherlands. The following distributions were presented and discussed:

  1. The normal and log-normal distribution
  2. The Rosin-Rammler or Weibull distribution: Nukiyama-Tanasawa distribution
  3. The power law
  4. The exponential distribution
  5. The Gamma function and related distributions: The Inverse Gamma function and The powered Gamma function
  6. The Beta distribution

The training was meant to sharpen the students' skills in scientific data collection, analysis and presentation. A group of 28 MSc. and PhD. students from different Universities went through the training
