Statistical Distributions in Particle Technology: From Basic Concepts to Optimisation

Statistical methods are critical tools in reporting scientific findings, support hypotheses and give credibility to research methodology and conclusions. They are used to either summarise or describe a collection of data (descriptive statistics) or to model patterns in data in ways that account for randomness and uncertainty in observations which are then used to draw inferences about a process or population under study, (inferential statistics). In this regard, The Institute of Nuclear Science & Technology, INST, has organised a free short course on statistics between 12-13th June 2017 from 11-1 pm at INST boardroom, to be facilitated by with Prof. Peter J.T. Verheijen Department of Chemical Engineering Technical University Delft
The Netherlands. He will also give a seminar on Wednesday before leaving for Netherlands.

“Statistics is the science of learning from data, and of measuring, controlling and communicating uncertainty; and it thereby provides the navigation essential for controlling the course of scientific and society advances” (Davidian and Louis, 2002)
