A two training on introduction to various Non-Destructive Testing methods was held at the University of Nairobi in 2013. The Expert visit from IAEA was part of the TC project on the Establishment of an NDT Laboratory at INST for provision of Teaching, Research and Consultancy Services.
ISO/IEC 17025:General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. Certificates of competence were issued to a trained pool of Auditors on 4th July 2014 at the Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology Conference room. The Schmidt rebound hammer test is an NDT method that measures the hardness of a concrete surface through the use of the rebound principle. The rebound principle states that the amount (distance) that an elastic mass rebounds after impact depends on the hardness of the surface against which the mass strikes. In this gallery, Msc students perform practical NDT inspection of concrete structures using the Schmidt rebound hammer.

Mercy Nyambura presented progress report on her PhD research on 3rd March 2014. Her research is aimed at establishing “Relationship between Fertility, Nutrient Status and Mineralogical Composition in African Soils: Applications of X-Ray Diffraction and Associated Analytical Methods”. Mercy Nyambura is a PhD student at the University of Nairobi, Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology and works at ICRAF.
The Chancellor of the University of Nairobi Dr. Vijoo Rattansi Visits the Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology on 5th of August 2014.
